BOMBOLONI ITALIAN CREAM & NUTELLA DONUTS




__Ingredients__


- 2 cups all purpose flour

- 1/4 cup sugar

- 7 grams yeast (1 pack)

- 1/2 tsp salt

- 1 large egg

- 1/2 cup milk

- 1/3 stick butter (40g)

- 1 cup Nutella

- oil for frying

- sugar for top


__Pastry Cream__


- 3 egg yolks

- 1/4 cup sugar

- 3 tsp cornstarch

- 1 tsp vanilla

- 1 cup milk

- 1 tsp butter


__Recipe__


1. Pour 1/2 cup warm milk in a deep bowl. Add yeast, sugar and egg. Whisk until well blended.

2. Add flour and salt and mix until well combined. Add butter at room temperature and knead until you get a smooth dough. Cover for 1-2 hours or until doubled.

3. For Pastry Cream: Pour three egg yolks in a bowl. Add sugar and whisk until well blended. Add cornstarch, milk and vanilla. Mix until well blended.

4. Pour the mixture into a pan and cook on medium heat until thickened. Add butter and mix. Take it off and pour in a bowl. Cover with a cling wrap and let it cool.

5. Sprinkle some flour on your work surface and roll the dough in it. Divide into 12 equal parts. Roll each part into a ball and pinch the bottom to seal. Please watch the video for details.

6. Cover them with a napkin and let them rise for 20-25 minutes.

7. Fry the donuts for 2 minutes each side on the medium heat. Roll the donuts in sugar and poke holes to fill them up. (I took steel straws to make holes).

8. Fill the cream in a piping bag and fill 6 donuts with it then fill the Nutella in another piping bag and fill 6 donuts with it.
