Red Velvet Cake With Cream Cheese Frosting



Ingredients


- 3/4 cup cake flour (90g)

- ⁠1/4 cup cocoa powder (25g)

- ⁠1/2 tsp salt (2g)

- ⁠1 tsp baking powder (4g)

- ⁠4 eggs

- ⁠3/4 cup sugar (150g)

- ⁠1/4 cup oil (48g)

- ⁠1 tbsp vinegar (14g)

- ⁠1/4 cup milk (60g)

- ⁠1 tsp vanilla extract (4g)

- ⁠1 tsp red food colour

- ⁠2 tbsp hot water (30g)

- ⁠2 tsp sugar (8g)

- ⁠berries for topping


Cream Cheese Frosting


- 1/2 cup softened butter (113g)

- ⁠1 block cream cheese (250g)

- ⁠1 tsp vanilla extract (4g)

- a ⁠pinch of salt

- ⁠3 cups icing sugar (400g)


Recipe


1. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa powder in a bowl. Put that aside for later use.

2. Beat eggs for about 2 minutes.

3. ⁠Add sugar in batches while mixing.

4. ⁠Add oil while mixing.

5. ⁠Add vinegar, milk and vanilla extract and mix until well blended.

6. ⁠Mix dry ingredients and 1-2 tsp red food colour. Mix just until well combined.

7. ⁠Grease your baking pan (9”x13”) and align it with parchment paper. Grease parchment paper.

8. ⁠Pour cake batter and spread it with a spatula.

9. ⁠Bake @325°f for 20 minutes.

10. ⁠Let the cake set for 10 minutes after baking. Remove the cake from the pan and let it cool down completely.

11. ⁠Add two tsp sugar in two tbsp hot water and mix until dissolved. Apply it all over the cake with a soft brush.

12. ⁠Frosting: Beat butter and cream cheese together until smooth. Add salt, vanilla extract and powdered sugar in batches.

13. ⁠Mix together until you get a smooth consistency. Fill the frosting in a piping bag and apply it on cake. Spread it with a rubber spatula.

14. ⁠Cut the cake in 4 equal strips. Roll one strip into a circle motion. Take the second strip and roll around the first strip. Keep rolling the other two strips.

15. ⁠Decorate the cake with icing and berries.
