These New York Style thick chocolate chip cookies are big, chunky, and loaded with chocolate chunks. They have a slightly crispy exterior, with a soft and chewy center, making them irresistibly delicious. Perfect for those who love a hearty, indulgent cookie experience!
Ingredients
- 200g softened butter (about 3/4cup)
- 50g brown sugar (1/4 cup)
- 100g granulated sugar (1/2 cup)
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 320g all purpose flour (2 & 1/2 cups)
- 2g salt (1/2 tsp)
- 6g baking powder (1 & 1/2 tsp)
- 250g chocolate
- 100g walnuts (1 cup)
Recipe
Beat butter and sugars together until well combined.
Mix in eggs and vanilla extract until well blended for about 2 minutes.
Add flour, salt and baking powder and mix until well combined. Scrape the bottom and sides of the bowl.
Chop chocolate instead of using chocolate chips. I'm combining milk and dark chocolate in this recipe. 200g of the chocolate goes into the cookie dough, and 50g is for the topping.
Chop walnuts or any other nuts of your choice.
Mix chocolate and nuts in the dough. Cover and refrigerate for about an hour.
Scoop out the dough into 8 equal portions. Each portion weighs 135g at this point.
Roll each portion into a ball and top it with chocolate chunks.
Bake @375°F for 14 minutes.
Let the cookies sit in the baking sheet for about 15 minutes then cool down completely on a wire rack. Each cookie weighs 140g.

Note: I baked them in the convection oven. If you’re using regular oven, broil the top for 2-3 minutes to get the brown colour and let them sit in the baking sheet before moving to a wire rack.
